Yeah, you heard that right.

Good bacteria. Bacteria you want to consume.

As Walter Lewin might say, very non-intuituve.

But it’s true. Probiotics have many significant health benefits.

That being said, just taking the first one you see won’t do. You need to have the best one available.

And it’s to help you find the best one that I reviewed the different probiotics available and compiled my list of the Top Probiotic for Men.

01. Hyperbiotics Pro-15 Probiotics Review

The micro-pearl tablets are made by a time-release technology that should make them resist stomach acids better than a normal enteric coating.

The rather low CFU count is not a concern because of that.

The probiotic Lactobacillus acidophilus has shown promise in preserving insulin sensitivity in men.

Insulin sensitivity describes how well a diabetic reacts to insulin. The lower your insulin sensitivity the more insulin you need to control your blood glucose level.

It is also useful against problems as diverse as lung infections and eczema.

With a number of bacteria that can boost immunity, this probiotic product is very good for immune health.

This product is also free of yeast, soy, GMO, lactose and gluten. The usual allergy problems are thus ruled out.

The tablets are small and round and thus easy enough to consume without any difficulty.

The key ingredients are listed below.

Digestive issues and IBS symptoms should disappear within days.

Your mood should improve and you should start feeling more energetic.

Your skin should become healthy.

Inflammation-based problems should also be alleviated.

What I Didn’t Like

The pearls are hard and may be a bit difficult to swallow.

You may face some teething problems (gas, flatulence) when you first start taking this. However that should subside within days or at most a week or two.

02. Rainbow Light – Men’s One™ Multivitamin Review

It has just the one probiotic bacteria but it has extensive mineral (metal) and vitamin content that will take care of your entire body.

Now you may very well ask why include a multivitamin for men at all?

In many cases it has been found that vitamin and mineral deficiencies are caused by medication. For example, Dr Katherine Tucker, PhD, explains Vitamin B12 deficiency is caused by medication for acid and diabetes.

The virtue of products like Rainbow is that it gives you a vitamin and mineral boost and also attempts to suppress problems like acid and diabetes.

One thing I liked about this is the diversity of the ingredients, which allows for exciting possibilities.

For example Selenium and Vitamin E have great synergy and complement each other’s antioxidant capacity.

As far as toning up your G.I. tract goes, this probiotic should yield no complaint. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, GERD etc should be rapidly cleared up with this.

The key ingredients are listed below.

03. New Chapter Every Man’s One Daily 40+ Review

L. acidophilus is known to be a stellar addition, useful against problems as diverse as lung infections and eczema.

Once you start on these you’ll start recommending them to friends and family.

One problem of course would be it’s a big tablet so be careful while taking it. They’re scored, so you can easily break them and swallow in halves.

It should protect you from common problems like a cold fairly well. It also helps you recover quicker if you do catch a cold.

You should also start feeling more energetic and alert; less prone to drowsiness.

What makes this probiotic a good choice for men is that it can help with prostate issues, although to what extent varies from person to person.

Usually taking a supplement including a vitamin complex on an empty stomach causes nausea and upset stomach.

Not this one. You can take it on an empty stomach without any problems!

The key ingredients are listed below.

Lactobacillus acidophilus• Useful against UTI’s*, Lung infections, Diarrhea, IBS**, Eczema, Crohn’s Disease
Bifidobacterium bifidum• Antioxidant
• Fights stress, IBS**, Diabetes, Lupus
• Lowers Cholesterol
• Boosts immunity
Lactobacillus rhamnosus• Fights Obesity, Ulcers, IBS**
• Boosts immunity
• Anti-inflammatory

• Molybdenum

It also includes a number of support blends – prostate, stress/energy, cardio and digestive support – and some other ingredients like ginger, turmeric, maltodextrin and organic gum acacia.

Directions

  • Take one tablet daily.
  • You should wash it down with water. You may do it with coffee.
  • Be careful because the pills are a little big.
  • You can take it on an empty stomach.

What I Liked

 Increases your energy level.

Helps you digest your food easily.

Reduces the symptoms of IBS like flatulence, bloating etc within days.

Helps you resist catching a cold.

What I Didn’t Like

It includes soy flour so may be unsuitable if you are allergic to soy.

The pills are a little large.

What should you look for?

What is the basic issue with any product?

You don’t want too little of the key ingredient – in this case the probiotic bacteria.

And you don’t want it to degrade.

So, this is the checklist

CFU Count CFU stands for ‘Colony Forming Unit’. It’s a measure of how many bacteria there are in the supplement. Generally, a CFU Count between 5 billion to 50 billion is considered good.

Potency This is a guarantee that your product will maintain its strength (in terms of CFU) till its expiry date. That is, a 50 CFU Probiotic won’t reduce to 40 CFU after a few months.

Shelf Stability This one is related to potency. It means that potency will be maintained if you keep the product on a shelf, that is, if you don’t refrigerate it. However if you want, you can always refrigerate it, there’s no harm.

Diversity of Strains You should look for a variety of strains to get the most out of your chosen probiotic.

The most useful groups of Probiotics have names starting with Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium.

However, many brands advertise multiple strains to look good to the average consumer. Many of those will degrade on exposure to your body acids and bile and won’t reach your gut which is where the magic happens. So, be warned that a huge number of strains is no guarantee of efficacy.

Clearly labelled additives You should look for the additives, whether they’re labelled clearly. Many possible additives irritate users. In particular I’d recommend you use Probiotics that are non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free.

CAVEAT

Many of the ingredients in my chosen probiotics for men may possess capacities to prevent and fight cancer.

However cancer should not be trifled with.

So I would advise you to not expose yourself to risk factors for cancer OR stop taking cancer meds just because you are taking these (or any other) probiotics.

In fact, that holds for all prescribed medication.

You can’t substitute your prescribed medication with probiotics.

If you ask the probiotic companies questions about your health even they will ask you to consult your physician.

OK.

By now you know enough to make your own choice of men’s probiotic but I feel there’s a sure winner you should check out.

Rainbow Light – Men’s One™ Multivitamin

What makes it perfect is its completeness.

Vitamin and mineral deficiencies are more common than you may think. And as I explained some drugs cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

This product at once reduces the problems so you don’t have to take medical drugs AND offers vitamin and mineral supplements thus providing a complete solution.

Another good thing is how many of the ingredients dovetail with each other. For example Selenium and Vitamin E have great synergy and complement each other’s antioxidant capacity.

If you feel there’s a men’s probiotic out there which is better than the ones I’ve selected, please do tell me in a comment! The specially good suggestions will get a shout-out on Facebook and Twitter and may even be included with attribution.
