The Best Mascara For Thin Lashes

01. Maybelline New York Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length Washable Mascara Review

What are the 4 Dimensions of the Mascara World again?

Volume, Length, Texture and Curve.

I’d say this is a very good 3D+ Mascara.

Your lashes will become long and lustrous. They will hold curls easily.

However it may fall a bit short on volume.

You can always get volume by adding some extra coats but the rub is that each additional coat means more weight on your lashes which causes them to droop.

You should not face any clumping.

On the off chance that you do, wiggle the wand from left to right and back a bit while you’re sweeping from base to tip. That should eiminate clumping.

It doesn’t irritate or burn and is good for users with sensitive skin.

I’d recommend this as a sure bet in a 2-step mascara regime, with a volumizing mascara forming the base coat followed by this.

The main ingredients are listed below.

ThickenerParaffin, Carnauba Wax, Acacia Senegal Gum
CleansingPotassium Cetyl Phosphate
EmollientBeeswax, Cetyl Alcohol
EmulsifierBeeswax, Cetyl Alcohol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, PEG/PPG-17/18 Dimethicone, Steareth 20, Sodium Polymethacrylate
Skin SoothingAcacia Senegal Gum
Hair FixativeAcrylates Copolymer
Film FormingAcrylates Copolymer, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Polymethacrylate
HumectantGlycerin, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Vitamin B5*
PreservativePhenethyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol
Skin ConditioningHydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Hydrogenated Palm Oil
Chelating AgentDisodium EDTA
* As Panthenol.

  • Start at the base/root and sweep upwards to the tip.
  • It will probably take 2-3 coats to get reasonable volume.
  • Don’t allow the mascara to dry between coats.
  • It should be removed with soap and water. Use makeup remover if you need to.

What I Liked

One of the best mascaras for length, curl and maintaining texture.

Very little chance of clumping or smudging.

Non-sensitizing, suitable for users with sensitive skin.

Should not flake much either.

Easily removed.

What I Didn’t Like

You may need multiple coats to get a good volume.

There is a chance, however small, that it may flake so contact lens users should watch out.

The Best Mascara For Curling Lashes

02. Maybelline Lash Discovery Washable Mascara Review

The brush is straight and small. I’d say it’s perfect for doing your lower lashes in a jiffy, tightlining and in general a quick touch-up.

However I must warn you, if you do tight-line, make sure to give it some time to dry otherwise it may leak onto your eyeball which is not advisable.

However volume may be a bit of a bother because the wand can’t hold that much product at one dip. So you may need a few applications to get the volume you need.

Volume is an obvious issue in any small brush mascara; however this is one of the best small brush mascaras so with a little patience volume should not be a problem.

It’s ‘washable’ so not waterproof. It won’t start streaming down your cheeks the moment you tear up but be careful of prolonged exposure to water or sweat.

It may smudge a bit on your bottom lid (not likely) but that’s easily remedied with a Q-Tip. It won’t flake.

VP/Eicosene Copolymer is known for its use in sunscreens. It stops the sunscreen from breaking down when exposed to water.

And although the name ‘Polyethylene’ among the ingredients may cause alarm, don’t worry. Polyethylene is a really gentle abrasive.

The main ingredients are listed below.

SolventAqua/Water, Denatured Alcohol, Propylene Glycol
AstringentDenatured Alcohol
Hair FixativeAcrylates Copolymer, PVP
Film FormingAcrylates Copolymer, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Polymethacrylate
EmollientCyclopentasiloxane, Beeswax, Glyceryl Stearate, Palmitic Acid, Dimethiconol
EmulsifierBeeswax, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Palmitic Acid, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Polymethacrylate
Thickening Carnauba Wax, Paraffin
HumectantPropylene Glycol
CleansingStearic Acid
PreservativePhenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben
Chelating AgentDisodium EDTA
Surface ModifierIsopropyl Titanium Triisostearate
Antistatic AgentPolyquaternium-10

  • Start the base of your lashes and sweep upwards gently.
  • Go from the outer corner to the inner one for best results.
  • Do not wait between coats otherwise it may dry.
  • Easily rinsed off with warm water and soap. Use warm baby oil or makeup remover if you need to.

What I Liked

One of the best mascaras that can hold a curl.

Mascara and brush are perfect for tight-lining and for a quick touch-up.

You can line your lower lashes with ease. One of the best mascaras for Asian lashes.

 Very slim chance of flaking.

 Easily removed.

What I Didn’t Like

It contains Methylparaben Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben and Butylparaben.

You need to apply a few times to get volume.

Use a Q-Tip and to remove and apply a fresh coat if it smudges.

The Best Mascara For Full Lashes

03. Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara Review

The best thing about this mascara is its smoothness. It doesn’t lump.

So you can apply coat after coat and the mascara won’t form lumps or chunks. So you can get a nice volume.

However if you apply too many coats your lashes may be weighed down and curls won’t be maintained.

It has good staying power. It should stay on for reasonable periods of time, say 6 hours or so.

Removal will involve warm baby oil or makeup remover; soap and water won’t do it. However I don’t think you’ll need to scrape too much.

It shouldn’t smudge, but just in case it does, you should carry Q-Tips and a makeup remover. It’s waterproof so you can’t just rub it off.

There also may be a slight chance of flaking; so if you use contacts, give it a trial run before making it your BMF (Best Mascara Forever).

Polyethylene is a gentle abrasive. Some users worry about it, there is no cause for alarm.

The main ingredients are listed below.

SolventPetroleum Distillates, Propylene Carbonate
Film FormingPentaerythrityl Hydrogenated Rosinate
ThickenerCarnauba Wax, Ceresin, Aluminium Stearate
EmollientBeeswax, Cetyl Dimethicone, Wheat Germ Oil
EmulsifierBeeswax, Aluminium Stearate

AbsorbentMagnesium Carbonate, Kaolin, Silica
Anti-foamingCetyl Dimethicone
PreservativeMethylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben
AntioxidantVitamin E*
Skin ConditioningVitamin E*
* As Tocopheryl Acetate.

  • You should start at the base of your lashes and sweep upwards to the tips.
  • You will need either warm baby oil or makeup remover to remove it.

What I Liked

 Does not form lumps.

One of the best long lasting waterproof mascaras.

 You should get good volume.

Can be easily removed with makeup remover.

What I Didn’t Like

 Contains 3 parabens.

You should carry makeup remover to remove any smudging if it occurs.

It may flake contact lens wearers should be careful.

The Best Mascara For Long Lashes

04. Clinique Lash Power Mascara Long-Wearing Formula Black Onyx for Women Review

It does a very good job of lengthening and separating your lashes.

It works like a tube mascara and binds around and over your lashes, enhancing length.

Separation takes a bit of work, wiggling the wand, but once you master that, your lashes will stand proudly independent.

It’s also good at increasing volume but you may need several coats to get your wish.

Too many coats may make curling difficult.

As far as staying power goes it’s very good. It won’t budge under most circumstances. To remove it you need to immerse it in warm water and then it should slide right off (the so-called ‘clinique mascara warm water removal’).

I would say it’s best to use this as a quick touch-up type for your day-to-day routine, the office or shopping. You should consider something more substantial for parties.

Polyvinyl Alcohol (used as a film forming agent) is a bit sensitizing. That being said, this mascara overall should not irritate you.

The main ingredients are listed below.

SolventWater/Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Denatured Alcohol
Hair FixativeAcrylates Copolymer
Film FormingAcrylates Copolymer, Polyvinyl Alcohol
AbsorbentKaolin, Silica, Bentonite
EmollientBeeswax, Hydrogenated Rapeseed Alcohol, Sucrose Distearate
EmulsifierBeeswax, PEG-15 Glyceryl Stearate, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Sucrose Distearate
AstringentDenatured Alcohol
ThickenerCarnauba Wax
Bulking AgentBentonite, Tin Oxide
AntioxidantVitamin E*, Sodium Citrate
Skin ConditioningVitamin E*, Jojoba Seed Oil, Dimethicone
Hair ConditioningJojoba Seed Oil
CleansingStearic Acid
BufferAminomethyl Propanediol, Aminomethyl Propanol, Sodium Citrate
ChelatingDisodium EDTA
PreservativePhenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, Ethylparaben
* As Tocopherol.

  • Start at the base of the lashes and sweep upwards to the tip.
  • Wiggle the wand a bit to ease clumping.
  • You will need a few coats to get volume; don’t let it dry between coats.
  • Warm water and remover wipes should be enough to remove it; it’s like tube mascara so it’ll slide off.

What I Liked

It’s among the best mascaras for big lashes (lengthening).

You should enjoy the clump free mascara experience.

Terrific staying power.

Works well with sensitive skin.

One of the best easy to remove mascaras.

Good for regular/official environments where you don’t need garish design.

What I Didn’t Like

Requires multiple coats for volume.

May be difficult to curl if you want volume.

Not good for great design.

May flake if worn for a long time so contact lens users should test it before including it in their routine.

The Best Mascara For Short Lashes

05. COVERGIRL LashExact Mascara Review

Polyvinyl Alcohol (used as a film forming agent) is a bit sensitizing. That being said, this mascara overall should not irritate you.

Again, don’t be alarmed at Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Unlike its cousin Sodium Lauryl Sulfate it is a safe ingredient.

The brush is a rubber one with medium sized bristles, good for getting to the base of the lashes.

Apart from applying mascara you should use the brush to just brush your lashes after application. This reduces clumping greatly.

It’s reasonably waterproof and you shouldn’t face problems with smudging.

It shouldn’t flake within a few hours but it does flake after extended periods of wear.

You may need makeup remover and some patient cleaning to get it off.

The main ingredients are listed below.

SolventWater/Eau, Propylene Glycol, Propylene Carbonate, Denatured Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol
EmollientGlyceryl Stearate, Lecithin
EmulsifierGlyceryl Stearate, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Synthetic Wax, Lecithin, Xanthan Gum
Film FormingAmmonium Acrylates Copolymer, Acrylates Copolymer, Polyvinyl Alcohol
SuspenderDisteardimonium Hectorite
HumectantPropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Vitamin B5*
CleansingStearic Acid, Oleic Acid, Sodium Laureth Sulfate
ThickenerCarnauba Wax
Hair FixativeAcrylates Copolymer
BinderSynthetic Wax
AstringentDenatured Alcohol
PreservativeBenzyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben
Chelating AgentTrisodium EDTA
* As Panthenol.

  • Start at the bottom of your lashes and sweep gently upwards.
  • Wiggle the wand a bit to loosen clumping.
  • You should use warm baby oil or makeup remover to wash it off. Don’t lose patience if it takes time to come off.

What I Liked

 Reasonably waterproof. Does not smudge.

 Reduces clumping.

It’s one of the best lengthening mascaras for short lashes.

It’s one of the best rated volumizing mascaras.

What I Didn’t Like

May flake a bit after a long wear.

It may be a bit difficult to reach the inner corner lashes.

The Best Waterproof Mascara For Sparse Lashes

06. COVERGIRL LashBlast Waterproof Mascara Review

The brush is plastic with medium sized spiky bristles and tapers towards the end.

It’s perfect for reaching the base of your lashes so you can get the fullest effect.

It’s also good for wiggling and twirling to ease clumping.

The tapered wand makes it easy to apply the mascara evenly throughout the outer corner lashes.

However some users may find the wand too big to handle inner corner lashes.

You need some practice applying, but with some skilled application you can neatly avoid spider eyes.

It’s good for volume, in part because you can apply it so easily to the base of your lashes.

However with each successive coat, the chances of clumping increase.

One very good thing about this mascara is that it does not stiffen your lashes excessively so there is ample scope for you to curl.

Overall, this strikes a good balance between the two, making it a good mascara for curl and volume.

It proudly lives up to its ‘waterproof’ description. You can cry or be in a shower; it won’t streak down your face.

However the downside is that it’s a bit difficult and time consuming to remove. And on that note, remember to NEVER scrub roughly out of impatience.

The shades are very good and suitable for volume addition, which should be the priority if you happen to have sparse lashes.

  • The first time you use it you need to remember to discard the cap and replace it with the brush.
  • Swirl the brush around in the bottle to collect mascara.
  • Start from the outer corner lashes and proceed inwards. Place the brush at the base of the lash and sweep up, twirling and wiggling to increase volume and reduce clumping.
  • You will need warm baby oil or makeup remover to remove. Don’t waste your time with soapy water; it won’t work.
  • Remember to keep rubbing gently and take as long as it takes. Don’t rub hard trying to get it off in a hurry.

What I Liked

Very high staying power; should not streak even if exposed to rain.

 Excellent shades for volume addition.

Does not excessively harden lashes; easy to curl.

 Should not clump or smudge.

What I Didn’t Like

 Difficult to remove.

May flake after a long wear.

The Best Mascara For Sensitive Skin and Contact Lens users

07. Mineral Mascara by EVXO – All Natural, Organic Ingredients, Vegan, Cruelty Free, Gluten Free Review

It isn’t waterproof but water resistant.

In plain English, it does a good job of resisting smudging under tears or sweat but may melt under more severe conditions for example if exposed to rain.

On the flip side you can wash it off easily enough with soapy water or warm baby oil.

You will not face any problems with flaking. The mascara itself is gentle and not irritating. These make it suitable for users with sensitive skin and who use contact lenses.

It’s quite easy to apply. You can readily avoid clumping or spider lashes. The mascara doesn’t lump either.

You may need a little bit of practice but once you get the hang of it you will see there are loads of opportunities for volume and curling.

Length may be a little bit of an issue but you need to remember this is an organic product with all-natural ingredients, which many users consider more healthy than other mascaras.

The main ingredients are listed below.

Hair ConditioningRice Bran Wax
AntioxidantOlive Oil
EmollientOlive Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Candelilla Wax
EmulsifierCetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid
ThickeningCarnauba Wax, Candelilla Wax, Acacia Gum
CleansingStearic Acid
Skin SoothingAcacia Gum
BufferAminomethyl Propanediol

  • Start at the base of the lashes and move up gently.
  • Keep wiggling while moving up. This eases out clumps.
  • Soapy water should suffice for removal. It’s not likely you will need warm baby oil or makeup remover.

What I Liked

 All natural organic ingredients.

It’s easy and comfortable to apply.

 No flaking.

 Suitable for contact lens users.

Suitable for users with sensitive skin.

 Good for volume and curling.

What I Didn’t Like

 Not waterproof.

May not enhance length as well as some others.

The Best Mascara For Thin Corner Lashes

08. Almay One Coat Thickening Waterproof Mascara Review

First things first: the brush. It’s what is apparently known as the ‘Megaphone’ design – tapered in reverse, that is, it starts out small and gradually increases in diameter.

The design is very convenient for volume and length. It should also be easier to reach the corner lashes – both inner and outer.

However it may make it difficult to remove and avoid clumping. Also, it will lead to stray drops of mascara if you stray from your lashes while applying.

It’s quite water resistant and smudge-proof.

And while smudge-proof it will come off easily enough with makeup remover.

There is a distinct chance that it will flake so contact lens users should avoid this.

Isopropyl Alcohol (used as a solvent) may irritate some users. If that happens, you should consider reducing the number of coats or shifting to another mascara.

The main ingredients of this Almay mascara are listed below.

SolventC9-11 Isoparaffin, Water, Isopropyl Alcohol
Viscosity DecreasingC9-11 Isoparaffin
EmollientCyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Candelilla Wax, Lanolin, Cetyl Alcohol

*** As Panthenol.

**** As Retinyl Palmitate.

  • Start from the base and sweep up.
  • Use the flared outer end to separately touch up the corner lashes (both inner and outer corners).
  • You will need baby oil or makeup remover to get it off.

What I Liked

One of the top 10 mascaras for volume and length.

Not difficult to remove with baby oil or makeup remover.

What I Didn’t Like

You will need practice to be clump-free.

It’s difficult to avoid stray drops of mascara if you deviate from the lashes.

 It may flake.

The Best Natural Finish Mascara For Thin Lashes

09. Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara Review

One thing I really liked about this mascara (and you will too) is how lightweight and natural it feels on your lashes.

This is very important especially in everyday situations where your priority is to look presentable but at ease.

Talking about natural, it also does not make your lashes crunchy; it keeps their naturally soft texture.

If you use contact lenses or have sensitive eyes however you should test it for a couple of days before making it your full-time mascara. Because there is a small chance it may irritate you.

Normally you should not face clumping. If you do, use a plain (but clean) brush to ease the clumps out.

The main ingredients are listed below.

SolventWater, Denatured Alcohol, Isododecane
EmollientC18-36 Acid Triglyceride, Glyceryl Stearate, Palmitic Acid, Olive Oil
EmulsifierGlyceryl Stearate, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, C10-30 Cholesterol/Lanosterol Esters, Xanthan Gum

AstringentDenatured Alcohol
Film FormerPolyisobutene, VP/VA Copolymer
CleansingStearic Acid, Myristic Acid, Isostearic Acid
Skin ConditioningEthyl Trisiloxane, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil
Skin SoothingC10-30 Cholesterol/Lanosterol Esters
AntioxidantOlive Oil
Binding AgentIsostearic Acid
Hair FixativePVP
Chelating AgentTrisodium EDTA
PreservativePhenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

  • Start at the base and sweep upwards. Wiggle as you move up to ease out clumps.
  • You will need warm baby oil or makeup remover to get it off.

What I Liked

Does not make your lashes crunchy.

It is resistant to water and won’t come off in streaks every time you sweat or cry.

It’s one of the best lightweight mascaras so no clumping.

Does not weigh down on your lashes.

A very good mascara for everyday use.

What I Didn’t Like

May smudge a bit after some time, say 3-4 hours.

 May irritate some users.

If you use contact lenses do trial runs before making it your go-to mascara.

The Best Mascara For Sparse Lashes With Metallic Sheen

10. COVERGIRL Exact Eyelights Waterproof Mascara Black Pearl Review

The brush is a traditional tapered brush (starts wide and tapers into a narrower end). It is great for easing off clumps and defining individual lashes.

You should not face any great difficulty tackling the corner lashes either.

You can curl your lashes and the curls should hold.

It is waterproof and will not streak down your face if you tear up. The chances of smudging too are fairly low.

However, since it’s quite waterproof, you will not be able to just rub smudges off, if it does perchance smudge.

On the other hand you may experience some flaking.

As Allure also notes, the shades have a ‘metallic sheen’ which helps bring out the iris and lengthening the lashes.

If you love the shades and want to use this mascara, I would suggest packing makeup remover and Q-Tips so you can quickly remove any smudges that may occur.

The main ingredients are listed below.

SolventPetroleum Distillates, Propylene Carbonate
SuspenderDisteardimonium Hectorite
Thickening Carnauba Wax, Trihydroxystearin
EmollientTrihydroxystearin, Tall Oil Glycerides
Film FormingPentaerythrityl Hydrogenated Rosinate
PreservativePhenoxyethanol, Propylparaben
AntioxidantVitamin E*
Skin ConditioningVitamin E*
HumectantVitamin B5**
* As Tocopherol.

** As Panthenol.

  • When you first use it, remember it discard the cap and replace it with the brush.
  • Swirl the brush in the container to collect mascara.
  • Start at the base of the lashes and sweep upwards.
  • If you want, wiggle a bit to ease out clumps.
  • You should use warm baby oil or makeup remover to wash it off.

What I Liked

 You can define individual lashes.

One of the best waterproof mascaras that can form and hold a curl.

 Nice ‘metallic sheen’.

Overall a nice clump free waterproof mascara.

What I Didn’t Like

Difficult to remove smudges if any.

 It may flake.

What should you look for in selecting a mascara for thin lashes?

Well, when you’re using mascara you’re enhancing your lashes which are strands of hair.

The first thing you’d want to know is what kind of mascara a product is. Is it

Traditional mascara which just cleans away dirt, separates clumped lashes and makes each lash stand out.

Mascara with micro fibers which, in addition to a traditional mascara or gel, contains micro fibers which are evenly deposited among your lashes, enhancing volume.

Tubing mascara which forms a tube on each lash, elongating it.

Secondly you’d want to check out the wand/applicator/brush. Is it

Twisted wire which is good at picking up product so you need apply fewer coats.

Injection mold which is good at reducing clumping.

Also, which way does the brush taper?

Traditional brushes start widest and gradually taper down. This is useful for curling and general application.

But some brushes start narrow and taper out till they are widest at the outer end. These come in especially handy for the corner lashes (both inner and outer corner).

Third you’d want your mascara to be/contain ingredients that are

Hair fixative to help hair (lashes) retain a particular style by stopping them from absorbing moisture.

Conditioners (which includes Emollients and Humectants) to help keep your skin and hair lubricated and soft.

Film formers to give your lashes a glossy look.

Antioxidants to retard aging and environmental damage.

Astringents to shrink pores.

The mascara itself requires certain properties like

Buffer to keep it from becoming too acidic or alkaline.

Chelating agents to prevent contamination or discoloration (distinct from Preservatives).

Suspenders to help certain particles settle.

Emulsifiers to stop the mascara (emulsion) from separating into various components.

A Neat Trick – Normally, you’d apply multiple coats of mascara without allowing it to dry between coats. However, if your mascara flakes, you could try allowing one coat to dry without applying the next one. Your flaking should reduce.

Don’t ask me why this works; I honestly don’t have a good explanation. If you suspect you know why, please do tell!

Sometimes mascaras start drying too soon. A natural temptation in such a case would be to use water to loosen them up.

That would be a very big mistake.

Mascara sits so very close to your eye; you need to take precautions and maintain hygiene. At the minimum, use contact lens solution to soften up drying mascara.

A second aspect of mascara hygiene is to be very selfish and NEVER, EVER share it with anyone. You’re doing both yourself and your BFF (who’s presumably asking to share) a big favor by saving both of you from a very high risk of infection. I kid you not.

A third aspect of mascara hygiene is smell/odour. If you notice your mascara starting to smell, especially like gasoline, it’s a sure bet it’s going/gone bad. Throw it away or return it!

By now you know enough to choose a mascara for thin lashes by yourself. However I feel the very best mascara for thin/sparse eyelashes is by Maybelline:

Maybelline Lash Discovery Washable Mascara

The primary concern for thin lashes would be volume.

With a few coats, this mascara delivers well on volume.

Apart from volume, this mascara is very good for holding your lashes in place.

So even if you’re dismissing this from the POV of volume, use this to shape your lashes and then apply another mascara for volume.

It’s got the right balance between resistance to melting off under tears, rain or sweat and being easy to remove.

The brush is good for tightlining.

It doesn’t flake.

Finally, it’s not going to burn a hole in your pocket.

Which is the best dry formula mascara?

Whether a mascara is ‘wet’ or ‘dry’ depends on its composition.

If the mascara has more of emollient/lubricant-type ingredients, it’s described as ‘wet’.

And a mascara with more thickener-type ingredients is a ‘dry formula mascara’.

A wet mascara ensures your lashes don’t look crunchy while a dry mascara dries faster on your lashes and may hold a curl longer.

If you want to try out a quintessential ‘dry mascara’, I’d suggest starting with BUXOM Lash Mascara.

What if I’m looking specifically for the best gel mascara?

If it’s gotta be a gel product, I’d suggest you start with Wunderbrow Brow Gel.

In case you’ve never heard of ‘brow gel’ it’s just mascara for your brows. Many people use brow gel as mascara; you too can see whether you like it.

Otherwise, try out the Great Lash Washable Mascara from Maybelline.

A little bird told me about clear mascaras that can hold a curl. Is that of any use to someone with thin lashes?

Clear mascara is all about getting lash dimensions – like volumizing and curling – without retaining your natural shade.

Celeb makeup artist Brittany Spyksma says that clear mascara is good at making your lashes look ‘nice and polished without the drama’.

As you can probably guess, that is a life saver if you have thin but beautifully colored lashes.

We’d recommend the one from Maybelline as one of the better clear mascaras that can hold a curl.

What if someone asks which is the best mascara for healthy lashes? Or if a mascara can be good for your lashes, in addition to enhancing them?

Every single mascara in my list includes some ingredients that are beneficial for your lashes (like emollients).

However if you are interested in a mascara that does the heavy lifting in keeping your lashes healthy, I’d recommend Rimmel Wonderful Wonder’lash Lift Me Up Mascara.

It includes cucumber extract that is wonderful for moisturizing and toning your lashes throughout its wear.

Leah Chernikoff, editorial director at Elle, loves it for the same reason.

Save The Base For Last!

Ms Mirella from Youtube has a great mascara application tip if you want to really go to town and curl your lashes.

She suggests starting not at the root but at the tip.

Do the tips first, then the middle and save the base for last.

This really curls your lashes without loading or drooping them.

Right, that’s about it! If you know of a mascara that’s a better fit for sparse lashes, please do tell me! The good suggestions may get a shout-out on Facebook or Twitter.
